Roadkill Rabbit Necklace
Roadkill Rabbit Necklace
This rabbit necklace is inspired by the bodies of animals I find mangled in the road, often at the edge where it meets the forests surrounding my rural home. The enamel pendant features a mixture of red beads spilling out from the body, adding movement and beauty while also depicting blood, and some tiny freshwater pearls mimicking maggots starting to crawl their way out. The enameled rabbit is set on a sterling silver backing that has a heart cut out for a colorful surprise on the pendant's back, as well as to serve as a reminder of the sweet lives of the deceased little critters. The pendant hangs from hand-braided embroidery floss and is finished off with a rustic knot.
