Petite Maggot Menagerie Earrings
Petite Maggot Menagerie Earrings
This pair of earrings is inspired by a dead pigeon I once came across on a sidewalk that appeared to be in perfectly pristine condition but was actually stuffed with an assortment of tiny maggots and worms. Their slick pink and white bodies shone like gems and pearls creating a weird juxtaposition between the grotesqueness of what was and the odd beauty of what it mimicked. These earrings feature a freshwater pearl fringe hanging below each enameled bird head adding both movement and elegance to the pair while also subtly representing the new life emerging from the birds body.
