Pearl Swan Head Earrings

This pair of swan earrings is inspired by the the swans who frequented a canal I lived up the block from in Brooklyn, NY. There were large groups of them floating in the water most days, and they looked especially elegant at night, beaming bright white while everything else around them had turned to black.

I painted the swans with watercolor enamel, over a base coat of enamel and then re-fired them to a glossy finish. There's a gradient of blush to ivory freshwater pearls under the swans' necks to add some bright shimmer to the pair like the swan feathers themselves had on dark nights along the water.

The ear wires are sterling silver.
