This brooch is in honor of a dead raccoon I found by the side of a farm road whose middle had been picked at by vultures, his entrails coming out of the large hole like deflated balloons. The glass beads add shimmer and shine, depicting the grisly scene in a more eye-catching way, as well as movement for the wearer.
The sterling silver backing has a heart pierced out to honor the raccoon himself and bring to mind the care his deceased body deserved, as well as to let a small pop of red peek through on the back to correspond with the front's beading.
materials: enamel, watercolor enamel, copper, sterling silver, glass beads, thread, stainless steel
length: 4"
width: 1 7/8"
*while the brooch back is sterling silver, the pin back mechanism itself is stainless steel for strength and rigidity for piercing through clothing and supporting the brooch itself
