Gift from the Cat Necklace

This rabbit necklace is inspired by the little animals surrounding my rural home that have gotten caught by cats and had their body parts hoarded like treasure and left at the doorstep for their unfortunate recipient to find. The pendant features a mixture of red beads spilling out from the neck, adding movement and beauty while also depicting blood, and some tiny freshwater pearls mimicking maggots starting to crawl their way out. The enameled rabbit head is set on a sterling silver backing that has a rabbit skull sawed out for a colorful surprise that also acts as a sort of x-ray through the head itself. The pendant hangs from hand-braided embroidery floss that's finished off with a rustic knot.
